When planning your scuba diving trip to Grand Cayman, one of the first decisions you’ll face is whether to rent or bring your own gear. Whether you're an experienced diver flying in from the U.S. or a brand-new student doing your first Discover Scuba dive, knowing what DiveTech provides - and what you should pack - will make your dive day seamless.
Here’s everything you need to know about renting gear at DiveTech, what’s included, optional upgrades, and what personal items we recommend you bring along.
What’s Included in DiveTech’s Gear Rental Package
If you're diving with us, our rental gear is top-quality, well-maintained, and regularly serviced. Here’s what comes standard:
✅ BCD (Buoyancy Control Device)
We stock weight-integrated BCDs in a full range of sizes. These offer ease of movement, proper buoyancy control, and integrated weight pockets - no more wrestling with old-school belts.
✅ Regulator with Octopus and SPG
Each set comes with:
Primary second stage
Alternate air source (octopus)
Depth gauge or dive computer (depending on package)
All regulators are thoroughly cleaned and tested between dives.
✅ Mask, Fins, and Snorkel
We carry both open-heel fins with boots and full-foot fins depending on your preference. Masks are cleaned and defogged before every use
✅ Wetsuits
In Grand Cayman’s warm waters, we provide:
3mm shorties (most common)
Junior sizes for kids and youth programs
✅ Weights and Tanks
Steel and aluminum tanks available (80 cu ft standard). We provide weights based on your exposure suit and body type.
For Nitrox-certified divers, we offer Enriched Air fills (32%-34%) as an optional upgrade.
Optional Gear & Specialty Add-Ons
For divers who want to take it up a notch, we offer:
🔹 Dive Computers
Upgrade your rental to include a wrist or console-style computer for depth, time, and NDL tracking for shore dives but is included in the price for Boat dives.
🔹 Sidemount and Tech Gear
For technical divers, we also offer:
Twinset backplates and harnesses
Deco bottles and slings
Oxygen and Trimix blends
Bailout tanks for rebreather users (must reserve)
What You Should Bring
Even if you're renting from us, there are a few personal items we highly recommend bringing to ensure maximum comfort and familiarity.
1. Swimsuit & Rash Guard
Bring a comfortable suit under your wetsuit. Rash guards help prevent chafing and add warmth.
2. Dive Logbook
If you’re already certified, bring your logbook or digital dive app to verify previous dives and conditions.
3. Personal Mask (if you have one)
A properly fitted mask can make or break a dive. If you own one that fits well, bring it along.
4. Reef-Safe Sunscreen
Protect your skin - and the coral. We encourage all guests to use non-toxic, reef-friendly sunscreen.
5. Water Bottle & Snacks
We have water refill stations, but bring a reusable bottle. Light snacks are great between dives.
Rental Pricing & Packages
We offer bundle discounts for divers renting full kits over multiple days. A sample breakdown:
Full Kit (BCD, reg, mask, fins, wetsuit): $48/day
Individual Items: $10–$20/day
Dive Computer: $15/day
Nitrox Upgrade: $12 /tank
Tech Add-ons: Custom priced based on gases and gear
Multi-day and certification students often qualify for package rates - just ask us at booking.
Sanitization
All rental gear is:
Rinsed in fresh water
Dried in ventilated, shaded areas
Assigned to a single diver per day/session
Your safety is our top priority - above and below the surface.
Why Rent Instead of Bringing Your Own?
If you're traveling light, renting saves baggage fees and hassle. Reasons to rent include:
Avoiding overweight baggage at the airport
Traveling with kids or groups
Trying new gear brands before buying
Diving just once or twice during a trip
Avoiding post-dive gear drying in hotel rooms
Final Thoughts
Whether you're a new diver just starting out or a seasoned pro flying in with only a carry-on, DiveTech has your gear needs covered. Our rental equipment is clean, comfortable, and suited to Cayman’s dive conditions.
Need something special? Just ask - we’ve outfitted everyone from Open Water students to expedition-level tech teams.
Pack light. Dive deep. We’ve got the rest.
