Women's Dive Day - 2022

For 2022, Divetech hosted an underwater scavenger hunt! We painted almost 100 rocks hot pink, and divers, snorkelers, and freedivers all had the chance to find the rocks scattered throughout the dive site. Each rock corresponded to an epic prize, and we hosted an incredible raffle as well! The event raised an astounding $10,200!!

Women's Dive Day - 2021

In 2020, over 2.3 million people worldwide were diagnosed with breast cancer. For this year’s Women’s Dive Day event, Divetech set a goal to dive 1 second for each person afflicted, which comes to 639 hours underwater. With the help of our friends and supporters worldwide, we were able to smash this record and donate over $10,000 to the BCF. An impressive feat considering the Cayman Islands borders were still closed to outside tourism!

Women's Dive Day - 2020

2020 was obviously a weird year across the world, but we didn’t let that stop us! With the island closed to tourism, Divetech hosted a socially-distant event that divers could also participate in from their home countries. This year we asked divers to swim - underwater and on scuba - a combined distance of 58 miles, the circumference of Grand Cayman! Divers on Grand Cayman and around the globe came out in force, successfully swimming 62.75 miles and raising over $3000 for the BCF!

Women's Dive Day - 2018 & 2019

2018 marked our first partnership with the BCF, and we decided a big cause needs a big event. Divetech planned to set the World Record for the longest-recorded female underwater human chain - and succeeded! The event was even more successful than we could have imagined - an incredible 86 women divers showed up to help us set the record. This year also marked over $3000 raised for the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation.

2018’s Women’s Dive Day event was so successful that the following year we did it again - only bigger and better! Not only did we end up once again setting the World Record for longest female underwater human chain with a whopping 107 women divers, but we also successfully raised $6500 for the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation!

Women's Dive Day - 2015 to 2017

PADI announced their first annual Women’s Dive Day in 2015 - and Divetech was ready to join the celebration! For the first three years, we hosted a 2-tank boat trip for women divers, with 100% of proceeds donated to various charities here on Grand Cayman. Much fun was had by all!

This year we were so excited to host a double celebration - in addition to our Women’s Dive Day charity fundraiser event, we also hosted our Grand (re)-Opening of our dive shop at Cobalt Coast! We held another amazing underwater pink rock scavenger hunt along with our annual raffle and raised over $8,000 for the BCF!

2024: BCF’s 15 for 15

Divetech’s owner, Jo Mikutowicz, chose to partner with the BCF for the incredible work they do within the community here in the Cayman Islands, and because she fell in love with the family-like feel of the foundation - it’s small but heavily involved in the community, and they provide detailed information and transparency about where donations go. Plus, they also love pink! Funds raised for the BCF go directly towards awareness, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, counselling, support, financial support, and wellness. If you’d like to learn more about the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation, please visit their website here. You can also visit them at their office, located in the Grand Harbor Shopping Centre on Grand Cayman.

Divetech is so grateful for the support of our wonderful customers and friends - with your help, we’ve donated over $33,000 and counting to the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation throughout the years!

Divetech has been hosting an annual Women’s Dive Day event since the first Women’s Dive Day was held on July 18, 2015. Over the years, the event has grown from a small all-women 2-tank boat trip to a full-day fundraising extravaganza hosting hundreds of divers and snorkelers of all genders, ages, and backgrounds! You can find descriptions and photos of previous events below.

In 2018, Divetech began partnering with the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation for our annual Women’s Dive Day charity fundraising event. Breast cancer accounts for 12.5% of all new annual cancer cases worldwide, making it the most common cancer in the world**. The Cayman Islands are no exception, with hundreds of ladies (and gentlemen) who are current breast cancer patients, survivors, and thrivers, which for such a small island is a shocking amount. This number only scratches the surface as many who are diagnosed are so very private, choosing to journey alone or with little support.

(visit here for more details)

Women's Dive Day is an annual event created by PADI in 2015 and is celebrated within the scuba diving community to promote and celebrate women's participation in the sport of diving. This event aims to encourage more women to explore and enjoy the underwater world while also highlighting the achievements of female divers and the importance of gender equality in diving. Women’s Dive Day is held every year on the third Saturday in July, with divers and dive organizations around the planet celebrating with dives, fundraisers and charity events, environmental conservation efforts, and more.

Women’s Dive Day has grown into the most celebrated day of diving on the planet, transforming lives and opening the door to the underwater world. Since 2015, the dive community has rallied together to encourage divers, freedivers, swimmers, and snorkelers of all genders, ages, races, backgrounds, and abilities to confidently explore and protect the ocean.
