Kids & Family
Divetech has a range of diving activities for ages 8 and up to enjoy, as well as a SASY program for ages 5-7. With child sized equipment, experienced staff and internationally accredited youth programs, it makes a great opportunity for the entire family to have fun together, or for mom and dad to relax.
Our SASY program is designed for younger kids interested in learning basic snorkel/scuba dive skills in the pool and the ocean.
"SASY" is a Surface Supplied Air System that resembles a scuba unit with a small tank and regulator designed to float on the surface. The child gets to breathe through the regulator creating bubbles, it is just like diving apart from remaining on the surface! The "BCD" is a life jacket and does not allow the child to descend underwater, providing a safe and comfortable floating system.
Some activities involved in this program include:

Learning how to breathe through a regulator and other basic scuba skills like clearing their mask and recovering their regulator.

Children 10 years of age and older may participate in the Junior Discover Scuba Program. This program is ideal for kids who are not sure whether they want to get fully certified. The program takes half a day and includes classroom time, equipment set up, practice in the pool, and then out on an ocean adventure dive to a limit of 40ft.
Once the kids have completed the initial training they can book further dives without redoing the pool skills and theory each time!

Kids aged 10 and up can learn to scuba dive and earn their Junior Open Water certification, which prepares them to go no deeper than 40 to 60 feet (age dependent.)
They can start the course theory at their own pace at home online on the PADI site, or with an Instructor in a classroom setting.
Certified Junior Open Water Divers can continue their underwater adventure by doing specialty dives and work towards earning their Adventure Diver Certification. Specialty dives to choose from include Fish ID, Navigation, Buoyancy, Photography, Search and Recovery, Deep, and Naturalist. Once 5 subjects have been completed they can apply for the Jr. Advanced Open Water certification

Family Programs
Adults who'd like to join their children for a family activity have several different options, including guided and unguided shore diving, the USS Kittiwake, and select boat diving trips.
Due to depth restrictions for certain age groups of children, it's best to contact us for advice on the best family activity.
Children 8-10 years old may participate in our Bubblemaker or Seal Team Program. Bubblemaker, Seal Team & Master Seal courses are conducted in half-day slots, with diving depths of up to 12 feet deep. The courses are designed with kids in mind who have an interest in Scuba and the underwater world. A general comfort in the water and the desire to explore the sea is a must!
For the Seal team certification, kids are taught how to scuba dive in the pool learning basic skills such as clearing the regulator, mask clearing and, buoyancy control. Once the child feels comfortable with the skills, they can progress to a shallow dive to 12ft in calm waters exploring the Divetech house reef. Divetech instructors tailor the dive training to the child so if there is something the Seal is not ready to try they are not required to do it!
Once the child passes the Seal Team Certification they can progress to the advanced course PADI Master Seal completing Aqua missions such as photo, fish ID, or navigation dives. There are so many options and so much fun to be had!
