Lighthouse Point Dive Resort  has an extremely healthy reef and the abundance of marine life is astounding! Shore diving will be open this September, with all the outdoor amenities that you have come to expect from Divetech. The site features a mini-wall from 30 - 60 feet just minutes from shore, and access to the deep wall only 10 minutes off shore. Multiple wave notches, chutes, overhangs and pinnacles make for interesting topography for diving.   An old anchor, estimated to be between 150 - 200 years old can be found in the shallows in 15 feet of water.

The natural beauty of both the sea and the iron shore will be left intact and feature a 40 foot dock for Divetech customers and owners use. The exterior product will be Caribbean architecture with large wrap around outdoor balconies blended into an antique stone finish. A Lighthouse on-site will be the landmark feature accompanied by a Spanish anchor and cannon.

Pirates Week Underwater Treasure Hunt

Diving for Bootie!

Nov 11/2007

Sunday, Nov 11th the annual Pirates Week underwater Treasure Hunt was underway with a total of 47 participants diving and snorkeling for ‘bootie’. Due to the strong winds, the dive took place from Divetech’s dive boats, departing from West Bay dock to search for treasure coins on Peppermint Reef. Following Greg’s briefing on the rules of the treasure hunt, a shot gun start had all divers ready to descend at 2:30pm. All participants found numbered coins underwater and had a great dive with the fish and turtles watching all the action!

After the dive, the treasure hunters ventured over to Cobalt Coast Dive Resort to view all the loot and partake of the Pirates Fare that Cobalt Coast supplied to the guests, warming up on hot French fires and chicken wings along with cold beverages.

Nat and Eleanore from Divetech hosted the prize giving event and everyone won at least one prize with many participants taking home 2 prizes.

Prizes included books, photography, lots of rum cakes and bottles, prints, t-shirts and caps, kitchenware and household accessories and many gift certificates for lunches, dinners, diving, flowers, excursions and more!

The Pirates Week annual treasure hunt is sponsored by Divetech and Cobalt Coast for only a $15. entry fee. All funds received are donated to the Pirate’s Week committee to further this fun filled week and the Cayman Islands Tourism Association to further its community service work.

A very big thanks go to the generous prize sponsors including Atlantis Adventures, Beyond the Horizon, Blackbeards, Butterfly Farm, Capt. Marvin’s Watersports, Cathy Church UW Photo Center, Cobalt Coast Dive Resort, Divers Supply, Divetech, Don Fosters, Grapevine, Hesha, Kennedy Gallery, KFC, Nautilus, Parasailing Professionals, Pizza Hut, Red Sail Sports, Resort Sports, Thai Orchid Restaurant, The Salon, Tortuga Rum Co, Trisha’s Roses and Young World Fashions.
